Challenge # 73 : Mailbox

Well, I have been working on this one on and off for several days. I was undecided at first on whether or not to paint the building in the backround. I opted not to, because I wanted to the focus to be on the mailbox, as that was the challenge anyway. I just penciled in a bit of the building.
I don't have a mailbox...we get all our mail delivered to a PO Box, so I had to do a public mailbox. This is one that you might see if you were in Dublin, Ireland. I did this one in watercolor and ink, and had some trouble with the fine lettering getting blurry, but I just left it as is.

This reminds me so much of my visit to Dublin, oh many years ago. You have a wonderful way of hinting at the background which at the same time could be seen as drizzly rain... it makes the post box really stand out. I really like this painting, Fae.

Fae,

The mailbox looks great! I am glad you decided not to detail the background. It makes the mailbox come forward and forces you to look at the great linework. Keep up the great work and look forward to seeing more!

Wonderful watercolor Fae. Your colors pop! Your rendition is so accurate! Wonderful perspective. As part of my heart is always in Ireland, it makes the painting even more special!

Wow again! It's so detailed and yet mysterious looking. How did you get that color green? I've never seen it in watercolor before. It seems to glow!

I wanted to say thanks for all of the nice comments. Also, as for the color green, I don't really know how I got it that way. I guess it came that way in the tube. These were actually pretty cheap watercolors that I bought off ebay. The brand is called Art Advantage, and the color is permanent green. I mixed it with chinese white and ultramarine blue in some parts of course, but I believe the brightness must be from that color of green itself.
